C – Control – The Money and Soul of Possibility Episode 11 (Final)–You Have Control (Or do you?)

Well, after that little “drop two shows because I’m lazy/busy” for a few weeks, I decided to not allow such a trend to continue and perhaps go for a feel of “completeness”. Well anyway, it’s the final episode, it deserves a wrap-up post.

Or does it?

To tell the truth, I didn’t have that high hopes for C at all. I simply picked it up on a whim and stuck with it because the premise seemed interesting. Throughout its course, I’ve been pretty impressed by the themes it presented, the problems the characters had to face, and most importantly those badass money deal battle things. Deep inside, I worked up this expectation that there was going the be this grand finale where Mikuni and Kimimaro work together (or against each other) to save the world or something.

Which is exactly what they did. But it all fell flat.

Now saying that would be a tad harsh, as far as endings go, it could have ben much, much worse. What I’m trying to get at is, it wasn’t bad, but it certainly wasn’t that great, either.

C – Control – The Money and Soul of Possibility Episode 04 and 05–Control the Balance

So many things were cleared up. Finally, the Financial District and Mikuni Souichirou starts making some sense. Even Yoga starts seeming like he knows what’s he’s doing.

We also get introduced to Mikuni’s Starling Guild, an organization that tries to minimize the drastic effects the Financial District’s “deals” can have on the real world.

C – Control – The Money and Soul of Possibility Episode 03–Like Your Father

I seem to have a soft spot for anime involving big explosions, supernatural fights, and underground mafias. In one way or another, C has all of these. And, perhaps, some father-son drama too.

This week, we reveal more about Souichirou Mikuni, the man who supposedly “runs the far east financial district”.

C – Control – The Money and Soul of Possibility Episode 02–Normal Isn’t Always Good (Or is it?)

Alright. First off, and this is totally unrelated, I have decided to drop blogging either this show or Hidan no Aria. One of the main reasons is time constraints, but another reason would have to be that both of these shows are a slight drag to blog. I mean, not so much with [C], but there really isn’t much to talk about. Anyways, expect to stop seeing posts for one of these shows starting next week.

Moving on. From this week’s episode, [C] looks like it has potential. Personally, I have some gripes about the animation and Yoga’s character, but that is just fussing at inconsequential details. I mean, the spectacular fights are what really matters, right?

C – Control – The Money and Soul of Possibility Episode 01–Money is Everything

Diving headfirst into a totally original series with absolutely no source material or backstory always gives you that feeling of insecurity, but also wonder and amazement. [C] is one of those series. From what we’ve seen so far in the first episode, they’ve laid down a pretty interesting premise revolving around a crumbling economy, gambling in games with your life at stake, and the mysterious “Financial District”.
